Portable Gas Detector Malaysia
Fixed systems protect places; portable detectors protect people who move. For confined-space pre-entry testing, patrol checks and personal protection across Malaysia industrial sites, U-Tai offers the UT-TGD01P handheld single-gas detector — voice, light and vibration alarms in an IP65 explosion-proof housing with over 10 hours of battery.

UT-TGD01P Handheld Single-Gas Detector

The UT-TGD01P is a portable voice-type single-gas detector: one target gas per unit, continuous monitoring with a dot-matrix LCD (Chinese / English interface) and triple alarm — voice broadcast, LED light and vibration motor.
Conventional options: EX 0–100% LEL, H2S 0–100 ppm, CO 0–1000 ppm, O2 0–30% vol, NH3 0–100 ppm, H2 0–1000 ppm, Cl2 0–20 ppm, with more gases per the sensor selection table. Response under 30 seconds, display error within ±5% FS, 1800 mAh battery for 10+ hours, 120 g in a 114 × 60 × 26 mm IP65 housing.
When Portable Is the Right Choice
A portable detector goes where the worker goes. Typical Malaysia uses: pre-entry atmosphere testing for confined spaces (tanks, pits, vessels, sewers), patrol and maintenance rounds across palm oil mills and boiler rooms, personal protection for contractors moving between areas, and leak investigation before a fixed point is installed. Fixed systems, by contrast, watch one place around the clock. The two are complementary, not substitutes — see the fixed vs portable comparison and the fixed-or-portable Q&A.
Key Features (per Product Manual)
- Voice, light and vibration alarms — the detector announces the gas type and alarm state in Chinese or English
- Explosion-proof certified; intrinsic-safety design per GB3836.1-2010 / GB3836.4-2010
- IP65 dustproof / waterproof housing in high-strength engineering plastic
- Alarm record storage for later review of alarm events
- Password-protected settings menu; zero and calibration functions
- USB charging; calibration accessories included
Confined-Space Entry in Malaysia
Under DOSH confined-space practice, the atmosphere must be tested before entry and monitored while the work continues — normally by a registered Authorized Gas Tester (AGT). A portable detector is the practical tool for that pre-entry check; a fixed system cannot test a space nobody has entered yet. Read the DOSH compliance guide for how portable testing fits the legal duties.
Portable Gas Detector FAQ
When should a site choose a portable gas detector over a fixed system?
Choose portable when the person moves: personal protection during patrols, maintenance rounds and confined-space pre-entry testing. Choose fixed systems for places that need continuous monitoring. Many Malaysian sites use both.
Is a portable detector required for confined-space entry in Malaysia?
Under DOSH confined-space practice, the atmosphere must be tested before entry and monitored during the work, normally by a registered Authorized Gas Tester. Portable detectors are the practical tool for pre-entry checks; fixed systems cannot test a space before anyone enters it.
How long does the UT-TGD01P run on a charge?
Over 10 hours of continuous monitoring at full charge from the 1800 mAh lithium battery, recharged in 4 to 6 hours via USB outside hazardous areas.
Which gases can the UT-TGD01P detect?
It is a single-gas unit: one target gas per detector. Standard options include EX (0–100% LEL), H2S, CO, O2, NH3, H2 and Cl2, with more gases available per the sensor selection table in the user manual.
